The challenge
Permanent pasture that had been grazed continuously for decades, with sward height and rest periods never recorded.
What we did
Paddocks mapped and rest periods logged by the farms, with satellite passes scoring sward recovery every quarter. Cores taken at the start and after the second grazing season.
The first year I did not believe the number. The second year the payment landed before the seed invoice did.
What the numbers said
2.8 tonnes per hectare, the highest of any region in 2024, with narrow intervals thanks to the uniform soils.
- 34,700 tCO2e issued through Gold Standard
- 38 farms paid in euros within 24 days
- Two paddocks restated after a wet winter, published in Q1 2025
