The challenge
Large holdings with two crops a year, a short window between harvest and drilling, and a registry that wanted residue evidence per field rather than per farm.
What we did
Boundaries for 1,900 fields drawn in the first month, sampled by stratum, with a satellite pass every five days during the drilling window to score residue retained.
Residue is the whole story in the tropics. If you cannot prove it stayed on the field, you cannot prove the carbon did.
What the numbers said
2.1 tonnes per hectare in season one, with the widest intervals on the fields that burned residue in the previous rotation. Those fields carry a larger buffer until the second sampling round.
- 244,000 tCO2e issued in month 16
- Weekly payout batches in reais from month 17
- Three fields excluded for unplanned tillage, published in the audit pack
