Privacy policy
Last updated 1 October 2026. How Canopis handles personal data from growers, buyers, partners and site visitors.
This policy explains what personal data Canopis collects when you use this website, enrol a field or work with us as a buyer or registry partner, and what we do with it.
Who we are
Canopis is a soil carbon measurement company with offices in Kecskemét, Amsterdam and Nairobi. For the purposes of data protection law, Canopis is the controller of the personal data described here.
What we collect
Contact details you send through our forms: name, work email, organisation and your message. Account details for growers and partners who use the dashboard. Basic usage data such as pages visited and the browser you use, collected through privacy-friendly analytics.
Field and farm data
Field boundaries, sampling results and satellite observations are tied to a farm, not a person. Where they identify a grower, we treat them as personal data and share them only with the registry and verifier named in your contract.
How we use it
To answer your request, run the measurement and payout process you signed up for, meet registry and audit requirements, and improve the site. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies
The site uses essential cookies to work and, with your consent, analytics cookies to count visits. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer.
Retention
Form messages are kept for 24 months. Project and payout records are kept for as long as the registry requires, which is usually the crediting period plus ten years.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. We answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
